PINETOPS, N.C. — Two children were among four people killed Sunday in a head-on collision in Edgecombe County.

Alan Thompson, 30, of Greenville, was driving a Toyota west on N.C. Highway 42 near Pinetops when he traveled left of center and struck a 2011 Mazda driven by Randy Collins, 53, of Elm City, at about noon, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Thompson and two of his passengers – Mickeyla Little, 15, and Christian Thompson, 2, both of Greenville – died. One person in the Mazda was killed - Stephanie Collins, 45, of Elm City.

Randy Collins was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville in stable condition.
