Nobbie Dubose, Clayton High shooting
CLAYTON, N.C. — Police charged two men Thursday in a shooting outside Clayton High School two weeks ago.

Someone fired two shots in a parking lot at Clayton High on Jan. 27 while a basketball game was being played in the school gymnasium, police said. One bullet struck a brick wall outside the gymnasium, but no injuries or damage were reported.

Nobbie Lee Dubose III, 18, of 219 Cottonwood Drive in Clayton, and Rasheive Dashawn Ray, 16, of 860 Taft St. in Selma, surrendered to police Thursday afternoon and were charged with felonious discharge of a firearm on educational property and attempting to fire a weapon into occupied property.

Both men were being held Thursday in the Johnston County Jail under $80,000 bonds.

Investigators haven't determined the motive for the shooting, but they said they don't believe it was related to the basketball game between Clayton High and Garner High School.
