— A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a woman last week at her rural Wayne County home, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a report of shots fired last Thursday night at 3479 Arrington Bridge Road in Dudley and found Georgina Fajardo, 30, had been shot in the head. She was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she died.

Investigators said two men and a woman tried repeatedly to break into the home, and when that failed, they opened fire on the home, where Fajardo, a man and four children lived. No one else was hurt in the shooting, authorities said.

Maria Guadalupe Garcia, 20, of 146 Hunt Lane in Clinton, and Arnulfo Ascencio, 22, of 109 Plantation Drive in Warsaw, are charged with murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, attempted first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. Both were being held without bond in the Wayne County jail.

Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce said the shooting remains under investigation and that more charges are possible.

it's not racist at all. If people are here illegally and several are Mexican sorry if the facts are offensive to you. Then not only should the be trailed for the crime but deported. My grandparents too came from Italy the legal way and became citizen as everyone should or be sent back.

Another reason to own, train and use a firearm …. self defense !!!! 911 is great i you live next door to a police station but in rural areas it may take up to 30 minutes or the authorities to respond. Too much time or evil to happen. Be prepared !!!!

How do the readers who commented before me know anything about these people? Do the Mr. (ahem) Dosis and Mr. Hinnant comment on arrests of white people, doubting their citizenship and casting aspersions on all white people because of what the arrested people have (allegedly) done?

These people may be from the dozenth generation of native-born Americans. There were Latino families living in the U.S. long before my Italian ancestors got here about a hundred years ago.

The crime these two people have allegedly committed is ugly enough. Address that, please, and keep your racist assumptions to yourself.
