FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Two women were charged with disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer after a fight broke out following a Fourth of July fireworks display in Fuquay-Varina Sunday, police said.

Police Chief Larry Smith said the fight involved between 30 and 50 people, including some who were standing around and yelling, but only Teresa Hunter, 25, and Betty Burch, 22, were arrested.

Smith said a smaller fight occurred before the fireworks at South Park, but police quickly broke it up.

No other information was released.
