Two-car wreck on I-85 causes Orange County back-up

Posted April 10, 2009

The two left lanes of Interstate 85 southbound were closed near the interchange with Interstate 40 in Orange County Friday afternoon after a vehicle stopped in the left lane was rear-ended.

State troopers investigating the wreck said the transmission failed on the first vehicle, causing it to stop in the travel lane. The driver in the car behind ran into the stopped car.

No one was injured in the wreck. The lane closure lasted for about an hour and produced delays of up to four miles on I-85.

Traffic had resumed its normal flow by 5 p.m., troopers said.

If your car just stops...dies...there is no pulling over....been there!

Stopped in the left lane? I don't care if your care explodes, pull over when there is an issue!

I hope the occupants of all vehicles are OK. I also hope both drivers get citations.
