Two arrested in 2010 Cumberland County cold case homicide

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Cold Case Homicide Unit arrested Denise Regina Green, 44, and Anthony Robert Hernandez, 34, both of the 2700 block of Gressitt Point Lane, in connection with the 2010 homicide of Kenneth Green.

Authorities found Kenneth Green with multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound on May 31, 2010 after responded to 1807 Catawba Road in reference to a shooting investigation.

Officials said detectives learned that Hernandez was having an extra marital affair with the victim’s wife, Denise Green. Both Hernandez and Denise Green worked with Kenneth Green at Goodyear Tire Company.

Police discovered that the victim’s cell phone and wallet had been stolen.

Hernandez was charged with Green’s murder on Oct. 8, 2010.

The case was dismissed in 2013 by the Cumberland County district attorney’s office due to lack of evidence. Officials said newly found evidence confirmed the involvement of Hernandez and Denise Green.

Authorities arrested Hernandez and Green Friday at 8 p.m. at Goodyear Tire Company with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Denise Green and Hernandez were charged Friday for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Green and Hernandez were being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bond.
