Two accused of setting fire at Halifax County airport

Roanoke Rapids, N.C. — Two men are accused of setting a fire at the Old Halifax County Airport in Roanoke Rapids, police said Thursday.
On Tuesday, a fire was reported in a hangar at the airport. When Halifax County sheriff’s deputies arrive, they saw smoke coming from the hangar and two men running away from building and to a wooded area.
Jonathan Lynn Johnston and Daniel Stewart King were arrested and charged with breaking and entering, burning a building and trespassing on airport property.
They were each given $20,000 bonds. They are due to appear in court on Oct. 18.
