Nice try. Unfortunately you missed the other parts of his life. Like that he was appointed a UNICEF Ambassador in 2004 and traveled with UNICEF to Afghanistan, Indonesia, Uganda, Mexico, Kenya, and Somalia, a country where conflict and hunger have created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

Or that he was a teacher and worked with special needs kids, including founding The National Inclusion Project, to integrate special needs kids with the life environment of their non-disabled peers.

He stands up for all people, not just gays. SMH

So an extension of this theory would be that African Americans only represent African Americans and women only represent women etc. Being a part of a specific group is not a requirement for advocating for those groups. I'm neither African America or gay but I support rights for both groups. While he does have an interest in gay rights (and yes gay people DO have rights), he also has an huge interest in the rights of special needs children and the progression of education. Any cursory research on his background (if an educated voter would like to really be educated about candidates) will show his extensive background and service in those areas.

Even though he seems like a nice guy and all, and those of you that like his mom, I still believe this is just another run and getting enough say-so to affect the gay politics made in NC. He has no political savvy as far as the public needs but I am sure this will turn into NC becoming a "Gay State" with legislation towards his agenda. So before you all get excited over the runner up to American idle making decisions for us you had better get the stars outta your eyes and wake up. We do not need another personal agenda politician in office the Entire Political structure is already full of them.

No Reagan had Brains and Common Sense.
Liberals only Think of Five things, Abortion, Gay Marriage, Taxing the Rich, and than sitting down with them at their $75,000. a Plate Dinners, Dumbing Down our Education System, & Gun Control.
You Know what Clay Aiken's Agenda will be, Right out of the Blocks.

MRSCHIZZY - Reagan WAS an actor when he ran for Gov of California. So yeah, at one point he had ZERO experience before seeking higher office.

And Gov of California is WAY more important than NC rep. George Holding has proved you can basically sleep on the job.

Just a desperate attempt to stay in the spot light and nothing more. If his entertainment career would have worked out, this would have never crossed his mind.

This has to be the funniest joke I've EVER in my life heard. Who does this dude think he is?

  • ncprr1 Jan 24, 2014

He'll tell you otherwise, but there is only one issue on his agenda. Will liberals vote for a one-issue candidate just because they have been snowed into believing that gays don't have the same rights that everyone else does? it is a good thing for them, that these type of candidates have so many low-information voters to go after. Otherwise they would be laughed out of the running day-one, as they should. No we are going to have to endure endless pom-pom waiving by WRAL.

99Percenters - Reagan was governor of California before he became President. So yeah, he had a decent amount of political experience before seeking higher office!

At least Aiken won't whine like Ellmers about a paycheck or fall asleep like Holding.
