RALEIGH, N.C. — The Senate delayed a final vote on its proposed overhaul of the state tax code as top lawmakers negotiate with Gov. Pat McCrory over how the final bill should look.

Meanwhile, a House committee approved legislation that would allow the speed limit on some highways to be raised to 75 mph.

Republican lawmakers also tussled over a bill involving a controversial development in southern Durham County.
