On Tuesday, the House Finance Committee approved a bill that would allow nonprofits to hold casino night fundraisers and sell alcohol at the events. Social conservatives denounced the measure.
The House Judiciary II Committee passed a measure calling for longer prison sentences for people who commit violent crimes and post videos of the act online. The committee also narrowly approved legislation changing the rules asbestos victims must follow to collect damages in civil lawsuits.
