Tuesday wrap: GOP thankful for tax reform

Posted July 16, 2013

— On the day designated as "Thankful Tuesday" by supporters of the Republican legislative agenda, the House and Senate both gave tentative approval to a tax reform package that top lawmakers and Gov. Pat McCrory unveiled less than a day earlier.

The House also gave final approval to a bill shifting control of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport from the city to a regional authority. But a months-long effort to address issues involving people in the U.S. illegally fizzled amid objections from the left and right, and it was moved to a study committee.

Meanwhile, the Senate referred a sweeping regulatory reform bill and a bill containing a proposed constitutional amendment on eminent domain to committees for further review.

Where are the values the integrity? There is more discussion regarding getting guns out to more people in more places than spending money on NC education! 48th in student spending, 46th in teacher salary. I guess the good news is we can't fall much lower to be the absolute worst in the nation when it comes to education. McCrory says by cutting corporate taxes it will bring more industry to NC...industry will not come to an area where it has an undereducated work force. I also love that McCrory had the hubris to suggest GE is adding jobs in Asheville because of what he and his has donenin the 6 months in office. GE already has sites in Asheville, Durham, West Jeffersona and Wilmington. Does he really think we are stupid...yes I guess he does, and by putting his support behind ALL the wrong things I guess we will get stupider and stupider.
