Lawmakers agree they can't finish a state budget by Friday's deadline, so they are working on a second continuing resolution to keep state agencies running until Aug. 31.
Posted — UpdatedOther than that, much of the action Tuesday was similar to Monday night, with the Senate giving final approval to a Medicaid reform plan – after again rejecting a call to expand the program as allowed under the Affordable Care Act – and a sales tax redistribution plan that favors smaller counties at the expense of urban centers.
The Senate also gave preliminary approval to a proposed constitutional amendment restricting how the state raises revenue and spends it. A final vote is expected Wednesday.
Gov. Pat McCrory signed the ABLE Act, allowing families to open special accounts to save money for members with disabilities.
