Tuesday wrap: Benefit cuts, possum revival near passage

The Senate gave key approval to an overhaul of the state unemployment system, while the House approved a proposed constitutional amendment on property rights and bills dealing with a proposed highway in Wake County and the annual Possum Drop in western North Carolina.

Also, Gov. Pat McCrory said he now backs a bill in the House that would prevent the state from expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act and develop a state-run system for people to purchase health insurance.

McCrory talks about how Medicaid is broken and he wants to fix it instead of taking the money to expand it. OK Gov. McCrory, so far you have been long on fixing things, but I have yet to hear just how you plan to fix it. Please tell us, we might like the idea if you would tell us how you are going to do it.
