Weekly Totals: Grocery expenses for the last week

Posted May 23, 2013

Every once in a while, I think it's good to post my grocery totals for the week so folks can see where I am shopping and what I am saving. Here are my totals for the week that included 5/15 - 5/21. Feel free to share your weekly totals as well!

Please feel free to share your weekly totals as well.

Last week I went to the store more times than I normally do in a week, but we kept running out of milk and there were some really good buys at Harris Teeter so I made a second trip before the sale ended. I usually don't hit all 3 drug stores in the same week either, but I had the Rite Aid +UP from a prescription transfer that needed to be used before it expired and again, we kept running out of milk.

    Great totals Faye!
I spent $9.10 at Target, subtotal was $19.16. At HT I spent $15.50, save $47.55. At Carlie C's I spent $14.92 instead of $20. Pretty pleased with my totals! Still need to hit CVS before Sunday!

Wow Neecy! I am really impressed! Great job on your CVS totals!!

Wildfrench - that's a ton of stuff for only $76 - great job!

Woohoo Faye.....your stories inspire me so much.

I have finally learned how to shop at CVS. Purchased 3 6 bar packs of Dove (have to use sensitive skin soap), 2L coke, & 1 pack of M&Ms (needed for a project & was not going somewhere else just for M&Ms) OOP $3.12.

Used 2 $2 off Dove coupons, 0.50 Dove from Sun paper, 0.25 CVS for soda, & $11 ECB.

Thanks Faye & all of the other bloggers for your help.

HT, total $31x.xx (?), oop $76.06. Lots of stuff. Seriously, lots of stuff.

Wow - you have me beat this week at $0 Erin!

You may want to get to the store before your other half does the shopping for you. Can't imagine the horror of that happening in my house. :-)

jdouglas, that's the way it was for us as well, stockpiling week and this week has been as well. I've bought now, between two trips to HT, 12 bottles of BBQ sauce for instance. :)

  • Packy May 23, 2013

I did really well last week because HT has such good sales on items that we normally really eat/use. I don't remember exactly but I think I spent around $40 there and around $20-ish at CVS.

Well, I took advantage of the HT sale (12.99/lb) and 20% one specialty cheese and bought a 10 lb block of reggiano parmigiano. We use a lot of parm, and this purchase will hold us for many months.

Including parm: total retail $354.92, OOP $183.27, saved $171.65 (48%). Without parm: total retail $125.92, OOP $79.27, saved 46.65 (37%). Most of the shopping was at HT.

We bought: shrimp cocktail sauce, A1, garbage bags, 2 london broils, cantaloupe, 2 bunches scallions, red onion, snow peas, fresh gingerroot, frozen OJ concentrate, 2 pkgs Magnum ice cream bars, 3 quarts half & half, 1 gallon milk, 6 heluva cheese, 1/2 lb ea ham and swiss from deli, 2 kaiser rolls, 2 bagels, 2 slicing tomatoes, french bread, 6 baking potatoes (Lowes $0.50/lb), 5 HT shredded cheese, 1.5 dz eggs, 3 lbs ground beef.

Not the normal week's excpenditures, but some weeks are stockpiling weeks -- this one definitely one of them!

I was lazy this past week. We needed some fresh veggies and were out of bananas and almost out of milk, but I either didn't feel like going or worked late or had plans after work, so I spent $0 on groceries this past week. I made a ham on Saturday, frozen pizza on Sunday, threw together leftovers on Monday, used what we had in the refrigerator for dinner on Tuesday, had a company rep take me out to dinner last night. This has been my best grocery shopping week ever! $0! lol Back to reality this weekend now that we are out of milk, spinach, bananas, fresh veggies, yogurt, bread, etc.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. Next week I will try to make the time to type in what I bought. Just not enough time this week.

Smilepal and corbin - every bit saved counts as a win so enjoy the savings you do get and keep up the good work!

hallc - I wish I could do your shopping but there just aren't enough hours in the day. If only I didn't to sleep..... :-)
