RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle Transit Authority has named David King as the organization's general manager. King, a former state Depatrment of Transportation administrator, has served as TTA's interim general manager since last October.

"We are pleased that David has agreed to continue on as TTA's general manager. He has provided excellent leadership for our agency, and during his tenure, we have seen dramatic increases in our ridership. We are excited that he will continue his work to improve the region's transit options now and in the future," TTA Chairwoman Alice Gordon said in a statement.

King previously was the DOT deputy secretary responsible for the Public Transportation Division and the Rail Division. In that role, he also helped initiate TTA's regional vanpool, carpool and bus services.

TTA is a regional public transportation provider, offering a variety of transit and vanpool services to the Triangle region and outlying counties. Bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Hillsborough, Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Research Triangle Park and Raleigh.

The authority also provides commuter resources and hosts GoTriangle.org, an online resource for public transportation information in the Triangle.
