RALEIGH, N.C. — Hours after presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton campaigns in Charlotte next Tuesday, her expected Republican rival, Donald Trump, will make an appearance in Raleigh.

A senior GOP official said Trump will hold a 7 p.m. event at the Duke Center for the Performing Arts. The campaign plans to address recent national security developments, the official said, and North Carolina was chosen because of its heavy military focus.

Clinton plans to appear at the Charlotte Convention Center with President Barack Obama at 3 p.m.

The dueling campaign stops reflect North Carolina's growing importance in the presidential race. Both candidates appeared in the state in recent weeks, with Trump holding a June 14 rally in Greensboro and Clinton visiting the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on June 22.
