Durham, N.C. — Westbound Interstate 40 in Durham was closed for a short time Friday as firefighters put out a tractor-trailer fire.
A McDonald's supply truck caught fire near the Fayetteville Road exit shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The driver was able to escape unharmed, and no other injuries were reported.
Billowing smoke from the fire could be seen from the nearby Streets at Southpoint mall.
All three westbound lanes were closed for about 15 minutes, and one or two lanes remained closed for about three hours are crews cleaned up the debris.
The American Tobacco Trail pedestrian bridge over I-40 also was closed for a while.
