A new report shows the troubled Montgomery County Animal Shelter has passed inspection after several failed attempts.

A new report shows the troubled Montgomery County Animal Shelter has <a href="https://legacy.wral.com/news/local/wral_investigates/document/13362157/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed inspection</a> after several failed attempts.

The shelter was the focus of a WRAL Investigates story last year that examined living conditions for animals, as well as the shelter’s extremely high kill rate. In 2011, the shelter euthanized 100 percent of cats and 98 percent of dogs that were brought there.

The shelter failed two inspections last year, but officials said improvements were being made. It appears those improvements happened, including new dog enclosures to better protect animals from the elements, according to the inspection report from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture

Shelter managers also modified cages to prevent cross-contamination from waste and water, and they are working on sealing concrete cracks and adding a cat house.<br />
