Troopers: Overturned camper caused traffic backup on I-40

An overturned camper shut down all lanes of westbound Interstate 40 in Orange County on Wednesday afternoon, the state Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. near Hillsborough, where I-40 intersects with Interstate 85.

Troopers said the camper, which was hitched to a truck, overturned. All but one lane reopened by 4:30 p.m.

Information on any injuries or how the accident occurred was not immediately available.

    Yesterday it was a trailer on 40 in Johnston County.

    This was where 40 merges with 85. It's a sharp curve where transfer trucks overturn almost regularly. If people would pay attention and slow down to the posted speed none of this would happen.
