— A Virginia man was caught with pornographic material on his computer Friday at a Stuckey's north of Rocky Mount Friday.

The North Carolina Highway patrol, responding to a complaint, seized the computer of John Barrett Armstrong, 34, of 14717 Woolfolk Road in Spotsylvania.

After finding what appeared to be pornographic images of a girl, troopers contacted the Nash County Sheriff's Office.

Barrett was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. He posted $2,000 bond on Saturday.

like the rest of you, when i read the title and most of the story, i was like, "and what is the crime?" it wasn't until i read the charge with "minor" in it that it clicked. Now that is sick. It's almost like "they" are trying to make normal adult images illegal- such images are free speech as long as they are images of consenting adults. Sort of the same thing the enviro-wackos are trying to do with Cape Hatteras National Recreational Area by calling is a National Seashore instead in all of the documents relating to that fiasco. Brainwashing- plain and simple.

"After finding what appeared to be pornographic images of a girl"....

APPEARED to be? I suppose I should be delighted that the HP is so unfamiliar with the subject that it had to consult another law enforcement agency, just to be certain. :-) Meanwhile, I agree with other posters who feel the quality of WRAL's writing is on a down-hill slide. But given the product being turned out by the nation's school systems, I suppose it is getting difficult to find folks who can read and write well.

I think the biggest complaint we have with the story is the headline... trying to figure out why porn was suddenly a crime... CHILD porn... well, that's different. BIG difference. One is a story of a crime... the other is not. At first I wondered WHY he was arrested at all. Then, at the end of the article, I wondered why the title was never finished. I know! 'porn' will make it through the golo censors, but 'child p o r n' will not!

I have to give a 70/D on this story... title misleading, introductory paragraph incomplete, no conclusion reinforcing points made in the 'middle' of the article.

Feels good to try to shred someone's essay like mine were in school :)

You folks busting on the report...if you read the last sentence, he was charged with sexual exploitation of a MINOR. It also says pictures of a girl....not woman. I think these two things make it obvious its child porn.

Thanks for blowing the cover off this story. I'm sure you'll get the trophy for disclosure. Are you a volunteer fireman in your free time?

first of all the guy was white, i was working when the call came out. they stored called hp at the weigh station becasue they are only 1 mile away. after hp interviewed the truck driver
he gave hp his laptop and stated it was his daughter. hp found tons of pics of 13 to 15 year girls and boys and chat room links
the stored called because they stated that someone saw the pics and the man mastuerbating.hp called nash county because the handle stuff like this.after talking with everyone inside two people stated they saw the pics but he did not visable have his penis out. so they cahrged him with possesion of child porno. i saw the guy a real perv and he deserved a lot worse than he got. wral needs to rewrite the headline.

The title of this story is misleading. Apparently, we are talking about CHILD pornography. It would have been nice to have that clarification in the title.

My first thought was "and this is our business because....?"

The story says "After finding what appeared to be pornographic images of a girl" then goes on to say "Barrett was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor." Can you not put 2 and 2 together bilbobag99 and figure out that they found child porn?

"and what of the girl/boy?" Again, it says "images of a girl" Read before you post PearlMonteverde

"Agreed, when did porn become illegal?" When it became child porn....read before you post stag15m4

"Give more info than race" I don't even see race mentioned SubwayScoundrel

I'm sure WRAL has reported everything the Nash County Sheriff's Office will tell them.
