Posted November 24, 2009

— Troopers chased and then arrested a Rocky Mount man who was wanted for allegedly breaking into businesses in Greenville.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, deputies chased Terrace Edwards, 23, at speeds reaching 110 mph in a 35 mph zone, authorities said.

Edwards crashed into security barriers at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, got out of the vehicle and ran, officials said. Troopers used a Taser on him and arrested him.

Edwards is charged with felony speeding to elude arrest. Other charges were pending.

Hey Journey985, You obviously don't know WTH you are talking about. SHP does not have a maximum speed with which they have to discontinue chases. That's what you get for thinking! Must be nice to make up the rules as you go!!!!

Wow, chased him at speeds of 110 MPH in a residential 35MPH Zone, for an "alleged" breaking and entering suspect. While I know the suspect was wrong for fleeing, WTH is going on with the SHP chasing someone at these speeds?? I thought the rule was no more than 25MPH over the posted speed limit for a pursuit?? Must be nice to make up the rules as you go!!!!

Funny how so many were bashing the troopers for DOING THEIR JOB when they are getting speeders and other careless drivers on the road, but no one screams when they DO THEIR JOB here. These people put their life on the line for us every time they go out on the road. Thank them for what they do, regardless of what the mission is. It is all directed at protecting law abiding citizens. Thank You to all law enforcement. May you have a safe holiday.

Because they're the main one's committing the crimes.

Why do all young black males try to run from the law?

  • RonnieR Nov 24, 2009

That is the first time that I can remember that happening since the new barriers went up. Used to be folks would flee right through the gate and get stopped down near the flight line by the SPs that don't play around when you get near their aircraft.
Most now go right off of Berkley before the gate.

The penalties for someone fleeing/speeding away from law enforcement are too lenient in North Carolina. Glad this suspect was taken off of the streets, he obviously has no regard for human life.
