Triangle terrorism suspect expected in court

Federal prosecutors said Friday that Zakariya "Zak" Boyd will be arraigned Tuesday in New Bern in connection with his alleged involvement in plotting a series of attacks overseas.

One of nine people charged in the case, Boyd faces one count of conspiring to provide resources to terrorists, one count of conspiring to murder, kidnap and injure persons abroad and two counts of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

His father and ringleader of the terrorist group, Daniel Patrick Boyd, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in February to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country.

Seven other suspects are awaiting trial. A ninth man remains at large.
