Triangle temps plummet but wind relents

With temperatures low already, a slight breeze made it seem even colder around Raleigh, where it felt like 21 degrees. There's warmer weather in the forecast, but the area isn't out of the woods yet.

"This is day two of a hard freeze," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. "We have one more day to deal with these temperatures in the mid-20s."

The chill in Greensboro made the air feel like 12 degrees, but most towns around the Triangle were at least in the 20s. Rocky Mount, though, was hit with 19-degree wind chills early Thursday morning.

Temperatures will warm to 47 degrees, but that number is still below the normal for this time of year, Gardner said.
