RALEIGH, N.C. — Lots of great restaurant news to report this week!
The much anticipated Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar opened up its first Raleigh location on Monday inside of North Hills' Captrust Tower. As the name implies, Cowfish serves sushi, burgers and even spiked milkshakes. Out and About hit the place on Friday for their soft opening. Read our review.
The OC Bar and Grill on Oberlin Court near Cameron Village opened its doors on Wednesday evening. This upscale sports bar has an extensive beer, cocktail and coffee menu that really features local ingredients and products. Just about everything on the menu is made from scratch. They even make their own syrups and use hand-squeezed juices. And there is an espresso machine at the bar! Can't wait to try their spiked coffee! They will be open until 4 a.m. on Thursday through Saturday nights and plan to feature live music twice a week.
The Chocolate Boutique at Lafayette Village is expanding. They will open a shop in Cary's Park West Village, according to a post on the store's Facebook page. Details have not been released yet.
The Little Caesars Pizza, located in the spot where Solomon's used to be along Capital Boulevard in north Raleigh, has officially opened.
Batterz Up Cupcakes, Sweet Treat and More has opened in a 1,200 square-foot renovated building near downtown Morrisville. They offer cupcakes, fudge, pastries, scones, bread, cookies and coffee. There hours of operation are different each week because they are so new. It is best to check their Facebook account for the hours. This week they are open Tuesday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Coffee fans, we have some sad news. Caribou Coffee is closing shops across the country. For us in the Triangle, the locations at 4214 NW Cary Parkway in Cary and Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh will be closing, according to the Caribou website.
Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop, which we told you about a few weeks ago, has a few Kickstarter parties planned this month. The big one is at The Pinhook on April 28 and will feature the Porchetta food truck and a keg from Sam's Quik Shop. Rose's is hoping to open this summer at 121 N. Gregson St. in Durham and are raising money for refrigeration. Rose's is a butcher and pastry shop. They plan to have soups and stocks, sandwiches, house-made sausages and custom cuts of meat from whole carcasses. The pastry side will have fruit driven desserts and fresh baked bread.
Steel String Craft Brewery will officially open its doors in Carrboro on May 10 with a grand opening celebration, but you can check them out starting next week. They are having a soft opening from the middle of next week through May 1. They will be operating with limited hours 5-10 p.m.
In non-restaurant related news, Music and Arts will be hosting a grand opening celebration of their new North Raleigh location (5950 Poyner Village Parkway) on Saturday. The party starts at 10 a.m. and will include showcase performances from the Heritage Middle School Jazz Band and Wendell Middle School Jazz Band, and a student and teacher jam session.
