RALEIGH, N.C. — There are a few new dining options this holiday weekend.
First up, the highly anticipated Durham location of The Pit opened this week on Rigsbee Avenue.
Tex-Mex spot Chuy's at North Hills in Raleigh also opened this week.
More good news! Gregoria's Kitchen, located off Hillsborough Road in Durham, has announced plans to reopen in January. The restaurant closed this past January after a fire.
Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar will open Dec. 10 at The Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham, according to an email from their public relations team. This chain offers gourmet burgers, salads, sides, milkshakes and wine. They will be located where Rockfish used to be.
Dickey's BBQ has opened in the old Spinner's Grill location in north Raleigh. It is next to the movie theater in Wakefield.
And it looks like the closing of Amra's on Glenwood Avenue is only going to be temporary. According to the News and Observer, original owners Brian and Alex Amra will be taking over and plan to reopen the place. No word on what changes they might be making or when Amra's will reopen.
Triangle Food Guy is reporting that Raleigh's Brookside Market & Deli, located near Oakwood Park, has changed ownership and has reopened as Brookside Pizzeria. The change was pretty quick!
Another item from our friend TFG and the folks at Chowhound. Soo Cafe is moving from their location on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh to Capital Boulevard's Stonybrook Shopping Center. They plan to open in the old Fortune Palace location at 2815 Brentwood Road in early December.
Southern restaurant 118 Got Soul has opened in downtown Durham, according to their website. Their menu includes collard greens, mac and cheese, yams, fried chicken, St. Louis ribs and turkey ribs, served buffet style.
One more piece of info: Triangle Brewing Company has opened its new venture Triangle Pint and Plate off West Main Street in Durham at the former home of The Roxy. The bar is currently open but some delays have slowed down the kitchen. They hope to start serving food in January, according to a post on the Triangle Brewing Company website.
Last week, we told you about Cafe Caturra closing in Cameron Village. This week, we know what will become of the space. Tazza Kitchen, based in Richmond, Va., will bring its Baja, Calif. meets Mediterranean menu to the space, according to company officials. No opening date has been released.
More Cameron Village news, Benelux Coffee is planning to open a location in Cameron Village, according to the coffee shop's website. They will be located on the street level of Crescent Apartments. They plan to open sometime in late January.
Straw Valley Cafe will be closed Dec. 2-9 for construction of their new cafe and juicebar, according to their Facebook page.
