Triangle Restaurant News: Krispy Kreme opens next week in Durham

A Wake Forest bakery celebrates its grand opening and Rolesville is getting a tavern - all in this week's Triangle Restaurant News!

RALEIGH, N.C. — Congrats to bottle shop and tasting room The Stag's Head, which celebrated its grand opening pn Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh last night! 
Another grand opening to tell you about. Sweet Traditions by LeAne will celebrate the grand opening of its Wake Forest shop (the brick and mortar location for its popular cupcake food truck) on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.. You can score a free cupcake with a donation to Backpack Buddies and be sure to enter the cake raffle and photo booth! 
More openings and news: 
The Krispy Kreme located at 3536 Hillsborough Road in Durham, will open Tuesday at 6 a.m., according to the company's website. 
Rise announced that its first franchise location will be in Park West Village in Morrisville. It is expected to open this summer.
More franchise news: Smallcakes, which just opened a location in Durham, plans to open a second location in Cary's Parkside Town Commons early this summer, owners tell me. 
Rolesville is getting a new tavern. Main Street Tavern will be located at 411 S. Main St. It describes itself as a "neighborhood sports bar" on its Facebook page. No word on when it will open its doors. 
A new gastropub is headed to downtown Raleigh. Whiskey Kitchen will be located at 201 W. Martin St., according to the restaurant's Facebook page. No word on when it will open.
Lantern owner and James Beard award-winning chef Andrea Reusing is planning to open a restaurant and rooftop bar in Durham, the News and Observer reports. The venture would be located in The Durham boutique hotel at 315 E. Chapel Hill St., which plans to open soon. 
Fuquay-Varina has a new restaurant. Kumo Sushi Hibachi has opened on North Main Street, Triangle Food Guy and blogger Dave "Lunchboy Says" McCreary.
Goji Bistro is set to open on Feb. 15 in the old Neo Asia space in the Maynard Crossing Shopping Center in Cary, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page. Same owners as Neo Asia but a new menu and sleep contemporary look, the N&O reports.

Closings

The Rockford on Glenwood South in Raleigh  is temporarily closed while they revamp the menu. They will reopen Tuesday (Feb. 3), the N&O reports. 
Crowley's restaurant and bar has closed at 3071 Medlin Drive in Raleigh.
One Whirled Cafe in Wake Forest has closed its doors. "After two months on life support, we have decided to save ourselves the agony and pull the plug," owners wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page. "We would like to thank those that got us started, those that welcomed us, those that supported us both here on Facebook and in person."
Charlie's Pub and Grill on Ninth Street in Durham will be closing at the end of March, the N&O reports.
