RALEIGH, N.C. — We first told you last week that one of our five fave food trucks,
Sarges Chef on Wheels, will be opening a brick-and-mortar location. We now have more details on when you can start enjoying those shrimp and grits!
I got the scoop from the Sarge himself, Julius West. The restaurant will be located at 400 Southtown Circle in Rolesville in what was previously a barbecue restaurant.
The family had always wanted to pursue a brick-and-mortar location, but it became a necessity after West suffered a heart attack in January. He isn't allowed to intake much liquid, leaving him vulnerable in the hot temperatures of the food truck.
"It forced us to have to get a location so we could operate during the summer," West said.
Sarge's will be open 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday to start. They will have typical breakfast fare - bacon, eggs, sausage, grits, waffles and breakfast sandwiches. The lunch menu is all of your favorite items from the food truck menu! Don't worry, shrimp and grits are served all day!
West said they plan to hold some special Friday and Saturday night seafood dinners. Can't wait to try out their Italian crab legs! He also wants to host pop-up events with other food trucks.
West said the soft opening for Sarge's in Rolesville should be happening soon and they hope to be open to the general public in a couple of weeks.
Fans of the Sarge's Chef on Wheels food truck will be happy to hear that they still plan to operate a limited schedule and will attend food truck rodeos.

Draft Line Brewing in Fuquay-Varina is opening its doors this Saturday. According to their Facebook page, the brewery will have seven food trucks and four bands on site for the grand opening celebration.
The News & Observer is reporting that Mi Peru in Durham has opened. They are a mom and pop restaurant specializing in Peruvian cuisine.
Bean Traders in Durham is expanding, according to Triangle Business Journal. In order to give baristas more space to make specialty coffees, they will be putting in a new bar, as well as offering homemade waffles.
