Triangle Restaurant News: Gonza Tacos expanding into Durham

Posted November 28, 2014

Gonza Tacos y Tequila

— The big news this week was that one of our favorite restaurants is planning to expand into Durham. Gonza Tacos Y Tequila announced plans this week to open this winter at 604 Fernway Ave. The restaurant already has locations in Raleigh and Wake Forest.

Tupelo Honey Cafe is opening its location near Cameron Village in Raleigh on Monday. For the first two weeks, this Southern eatery will only be open for dinner. Check out our preview of the new place.

Former Umstead pastry chef Daniel Benjamin opened up his new bakery, lucettegrace, in downtown Raleigh this week. It is located at 235 S. Salisbury St.

Monuts closed up shop at its East Parrish Street location in Durham. Monuts is planning to open at its new location at 1002 Ninth St., in the old Magnolia Grill space in Durham in early December. Plans for the hold East Parish location haven't been revealed yet, but owners say they will be turning it into something else after the new location gets settled.

Also in Durham, the people behind Geer Street Garden have opened a new Italian-American restaurant at 2501 University Drive, Herald-Sun reports. The Boot is opened for dinner service Monday through Saturday.

Little Caesars is planning to open its Knightdale location early next week, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. It is located next to the Krispy Kreme off of U.S. 64.

And one more piece of news: Main Street Grille Cafe and Bakery in Wake Forest is open for business despite a vehicle hitting the front of the restaurant Monday night. They are in the process of fixing the front of the storefront, but they are still serving! Glad no one was hurt!

That would be because they are a Central American Restaurant, not just Mexican. I will also point out that their menu selection is widely popular considering how busy they get.

Durham is the wrong location for Gonza Tacos & Tequila. It will never make it there. They have one dish I like there. Wish they would change the green rice. Their menu is not the typical mexican restaurant food at all.

Lil Caesars opening up in Knightdale? Is this suppose to be a joke? I feel bad for the folks living our there.
