RALEIGH, N.C. — There are two grand opening celebrations happening this weekend!
Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint will hold its grand opening Saturday in the new Parkside Town Commons retail center in Cary. This is the first of three planned locations in the Triangle. Uncle Maddio's lets customers build their own pizzas from more than 40 fresh ingredients. Think of it as a Moe's or Subway for pizza! Head to Uncle Maddio's on Saturday for face painting, balloon art and a bounce house. I'm also hearing that the crew from Disney's "Frozen" might be there too!
Smallcakes, a cupcake shop at 4711 Hope Valley Road in Durham, will hold its grand opening party Jan. 24. It will feature face painting and other family-friendly activities. The shop will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with children's activities happening form 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One more grand opening party Saturday: G2B in Durham will celebrate the grand opening of its nanobrewery with an event from noon to 3 p.m. There will be beer samples, food and music from Mint Julep Jazz Band..
More openings and news:
P.G. Werth's Restaurant and Market opens today (Friday) in the bottom floor of the apartment building at 927 W. Morgan St., Triangle Business Journal reports.
Eschelon Experiences opened its sushi and modern Japanese restaurant Basan this week.
Pharmacy Bottle + Beverage is targeting a Feb. 9 soft opening at 120 E. Chatham St. in downtown Cary, owners told me this week.
Ruckus Pizza will be opening in the old Bella Mia space in Cary, Triangle Food Guy reports. No word on when it will open but a sign is up.
Two closures to note from our friend TFG: Taqueria Americana in Lafayette Village in north Raleigh has closed, as well as Five Guys Burgers in the food court at the Streets of Southpoint mall in Durham.
