Triangle Restaurant News: Caribbean restaurant opens in downtown Raleigh

Posted February 6, 2015

Tupelo Honey Cafe has rolled out a new small plates menu and Raleigh is the first to try it out. I had a chance to try the new menu last night and highly recommend the baked mac and cheese with cajun blackened shrimp and the North Carolina Country Ham Wontons!

Openings this week:

The Twisted Mango has opened in the old home of La Volta on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. The Caribbean restaurant opened on Tuesday. Hearing great things about their Cucumber shots.

The Krispy Kreme opened this week at 3536 Hillsborough Road in Durham.

Also in Durham, Dashi, a ramen shop and Japanese pub, opened at 415 E. Chapel Hill St. and Gonza Tacos y Tequila opened at 604 Fernway Ave.

Goji Bistro is set to open next weekend (Feb. 15) in the old Neo Asia space in the Maynard Crossing Shopping Center in Cary.

Also in Cary, Triangle Food Guy reports that Ashee Ethiopian will be replaced by Awaz'e Ethiopian/Eritrean Cuisine. No word on when it will change over to the new concept/title. The restaurant is located at 994 Northeast Maynard Road.

Staying in Cary, Crosstown Pub & Grill has opens in downtown today (Friday), Triangle Business Journal reports.

Another tidbit from TFG, Ninth Street Coffee House is planning to open mid-February in the old Market Street Coffee location at 714 Ninth St. in Durham. The restaurant will serve food, coffee and all fresh fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies.
