RALEIGH, N.C. — In case you missed it, Porchetta opened their Streets of Southpoint location last week. The location is in the Fork in the Road food court on the 2nd floor of the mall.
Staying in the Streets of Southpoint, American Meltdown has taken over the spot between Ichiban and Great Wraps in the food court. They anticipate opening in September.
Sunday was the first Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo for Captain Ponchos' new truck. The new truck is bigger than the previous one, allowing more space to work and expand the menu. The menu saw some former specials return as regular items and a few new dishes including fish tacos and a Nutella burrito. The next Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo is scheduled for the evening of Aug. 9.
The locally developed food truck-tracking app, Truxie, has gone through some major changes lately. Two features users will notice are the interface change and the ability to confirm and deny a truck’s location.

Upcoming Events

The Durham Central Park Rodeo is Sunday, Father’s Day.The rodeo includes 40+ food trucks, live music, and local beer. The park has plenty of green space, so bring a chair or a blanket and relax.
Vance-Granville Community College will have a food truck rodeo on Tuesday, June 16, at the Franklin Campus. It will feature Chick-N-Que, Virgil’s Jamaica and LadyBugs Treats. The event, which provides a capstone for students of the college’s Food Truck Entrepreneurship program, will allow students to ask questions and witness a food truck operation.
The week starts performances of MacBeth at Raleigh Little Theatre. In addition to the performance, food trucks will be there to serve hungry guests. The event is outdoors at the Stephenson Ampitheatre.
On Saturday, "Chef" will be on an outdoor screen at North Carolina Museum of Art. In addition to the movie, food trucks American Meltdown, Chirba Chirba, Citizens Pops, Cousins Maine Lobster, Only Burger and Two Roosters Ice Cream will be there to bring the movie to life.
Village Lanes in Durham will have its Spring Fling on June 20. Arepa Culture, Big Island Shaved Ice and Urban Entrees will be there for hungry guests.

Dinners

Since seats are limited, be sure to check this event. On June 23, Bull City Ciderworks and Bull City Street Food are having a Pairing of the Bulls II, which is a 5-course Cider and Food Truck dinner. The event is part of the cidery’s first anniversary celebrated that week.
Olio and Aceto will have a wine pairing dinner featuring French cuisine in their Chapel Hill cafe on June 25.
