Triangle Food Truck News: Durham hosts rodeo this weekend

More than 50 food trucks will be at Durham Central Park Sunday for a special Labor Day weekend rodeo.

RALEIGH, N.C. — ICYMI: Pho Nomenal Dumplings is on Food Network’s "The Great Food Truck Race" Season 6. SPOILER ALERT from last night's episode: They are moving on to Santa Fe for next week’s episode. They squeezed by DiSO’s, a food truck out of New York City, by earning just $15 more than them.  The cool thing is Chef Dana Marie from DiSO’s is serving on Pho Nomenal Dumpling at this Sunday’s Durham Central Park food truck rodeo (event details later in the post!)
Captain Ponchos has had to push back its opening date until Sept. 10. The restaurant will be located in Chapel Hill’s Southern Village at 708 Market St.
This Tuesday, Bo “Gavin” Kwon of the Bo’s Kitchen food truck will takeover the Berkley Café in Raleigh as part of the Takeover Tuesday series.
Also on Tuesday, Vance-Granville Community College will have an evening food truck rodeo (5-7 p.m.) in conjunction with their food truck education program. Food trucks Chick-N-Que, CockADoodleMoo, AmigoSan, Sweet Traditions, and LadyBugs’ Treats will be there. The location is 8100 NC 56 in Louisburg.
Saturday, Five Points’ Nickelpoint Brewing will celebrate its one year anniversary. During the day CockADoodleMoo and AmigoSan will be there. The festivities will take place from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, be sure to head to Durham Central Park for the next 2015 scheduled rodeo. Over 50 food trucks, cold brews, and live music from Outside Soul w/UR Mom. The rodeo takes place from noon to 4 p.m.
Coming up on Sept. 12, Beericana will feature craft beer, food trucks and more. The event wll be held at Sugg Farm Park in Holly Springs. Tickets are on sale now.
Make plans for Thursday, Sept. 24 as Olio and Aceto will have their next wine pairing dinner that night. Past dinners featured French, Asian, and Southern Classics, while September’s dinner will focus on Indian cuisine. The cafe is located on 400 S. Elliot Road in Chapel Hill.
