25 Triangle events to check out this week

RALEIGH, N.C. — The holiday weekend is over, but the fun continues into the new work week with these events.

Beauty and the Beast fans can enjoy a sing-along as they watch the new movie at select theaters tonight.

The Durham Hotel will host a guided constellation tour tonight in partnership with the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. There will be science exhibits, music and cocktail specials from 8 to 11 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Do you sing in the shower? The car? The kitchen? Now you can sing along with others at Motorco Music Hall during their flash chorus event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Visit the 21c Museum Hotel in Durham at 7 p.m. for Set & Setting, a distinct show featuring new work by The Department of Improvised Dance with live music by D-Town Brass. "The dance presents the audience with shifting configurations of bodies that crawl over, caress and inspect each other with the beautiful curiosity of infants or animals," said event organizers. When the show is over, walk around and enjoy the art galleries.

At 5:30 p.m., Sassool Mediterranean Cafe on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary will host a Global Eats event, meant to invite people to celebrate Lebanese roots and try new cuisine. Tickets are available at the door for $6 per person, which includes a sampler platter with dessert.

At 7 p.m., Motorco will present a live podcast episode of MSF’s industry-acclaimed weekly series and podcast. Hosted by Robert Milazzo, founder of The Modern School of Film, Murmur invites artists and innovators from the worlds of film, music, comics and culture to discuss the sights and sounds and ideas that have created their legacies and changed their lives.

See stand-up comedian Doug Stanhope, who is described as vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest, shockingly uninhibited and "certainly not for everybody," at the Lincoln Theatre at 8 p.m.

In the mood for team trivia? Crank Arm Brewing and The Pinhook both feature games tonight.

Stop by City Plaza between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market for local produce and goods from local vendors. The market runs weekly through mid-October.

Starting at 5 p.m., enjoy Wine Down Wednesday at the La Vita Dulce Expresso & Gelato Cafe in Chapel Hill. Sip a new wine, bubbly or wine cocktail and enjoy free food samples during the open social with live music on the patio, discounts on all wine and free mini gelato for kids.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m., The Durham Hotel wil host a rooftop event called History of the Cocktail. Two bartenders will team up to explore along with guests the origins and history of a notable cocktail like the Manhattan, learning about its roots and variations.

If you love the 90s, this event is a must! Neptunes in downtown Raleigh will host 1990s Music Bingo starting at 8 p.m., where participants get a free bingo card from the DJ booth and mark off the artists' names when you hear their songs. This event is 21 and up only.

The much-anticipated event is here! Taste 2017, which is composed of a series of events celebrating food and drink in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, kicks off with one of the festival's most popular events -- The Grand Taste Experience at the Durham Armory from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets (priced at $104) give you access to unlimited samplings from 30 of the area's best chefs along with treats from local beverage makers and live music.

Lafayette Village in Raleigh will host a Wine Walk for Charity tonight. Participating merchants will be offering free wine tasting at their business from 6 to 8 p.m. A $10 donation gets you a tasting glass, and all proceeds go to the featured charity of the evening.

Take 6, Regina Carter, John Brown Little Big Band, the NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble and other groups will perform at tonight's Design a World Without ALS Benefit Concert at the Carolina Theatre of Durham at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $50.

Midtowne Grille in North Hills will host a Bourbon Dinner featuring five courses carefully pared with selected, tasty bourbons. Tickets are $65 a person.

Visit Pizza La Stella, a new addition to downtown Raleigh, every Thursday between 7:30 and 11 p.m. for Live at the Loft, an evening of live music, food, drinks and exclusive specials.

Enjoy a free show featuring Band of Oz at Park West Village in Morrisville as part of their weekly Live in the District series.

The Shins, an American indie rock band from New Mexico, will perform at The Ritz at 8 p.m.

At 11 a.m., enjoy a Whole Hog Barbecue Demonstration at Durham's Green Button Farm as part of Taste 2017. Guests will learn about sustainable farming and pasture raised pigs and enjoy a taste of PICNIC’s NC whole hog barbecue. Tickets are $45.

Enjoy a live concert featuring acoustic music from an American Aquarium artist and support a great cause! This year's Music for Me Fine event takes place at 8 p.m. at All Saints Chapel in Raleigh. Your ticket also entitles you to a delicious assortment of food from Empire Eats and beer and wine. Proceeds go to help critically ill kids at UNC & Duke hospitals. Tickets are $80 each or $150 per couple.

Join fellow beer lovers for Brewgaloo, a craft beer fest that takes place tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. in downtown Raleigh. The event continues Saturday.

Friday Night Flights starts at Durty Bull at 8 p.m. before shutting participants on a continuous loop, visiting breweries and bars along the way.

Carolina Ballet will present Rhapsody in Blue, an American classic, at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m.
