Cary, N.C. — Employees of Greater Life Ministry in Wake County arrived Tuesday morning to find that a tree branch had fallen on their roof overnight.
The branch tore several holes in the ceiling and sent sheet rock and insulation crashing to the floor inside the building, at 8500 Chapel Hill Road.
Speaking on behalf of the church, Terry Davis said she estimated that the branch fell sometime around 6 a.m. The congregation will look for another place for worship services and summer camp while the damage and any repairs are assessed, Davis said.
"We are the church, and where ever we go our light will shine. The building is just a structure where we come together," said Bishop Mary Baxter.
