Training exercise to be conducted Sunday in Raleigh

Raleigh, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department is coordinating a large-scale, routine tactical training exercise Sunday morning, according to a press release.
Officials said the exercise will take place at the U.S. Navy Reserve Training Center at 2725 Western Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. and will last about two hours.
The training exercise will involve the closure of one inbound lane on Western Boulevard between Dan Allen Drive and Avent Ferry Road, along with the closure of Dan Allen Drive south of Western Boulevard.
Authorities said the closures are required to park and stage vehicles and equipment related to the exercise.
Sounds resembling explosions and gunfire may be heard, which are part of the exercise scenario, officials said.
The North Carolina State University Emergency Communications Center, N.C. State Police Department, Raleigh Fire Department, Raleigh Police Department, Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center, Wake County Department of Emergency Medical Services and Wake County Emergency Management Department will also participate in the exercise on Sunday.
