Officials said the exercise will take place at the U.S. Navy Reserve Training Center at 2725 Western Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. and will last about two hours.

The training exercise will involve the closure of one inbound lane on Western Boulevard between Dan Allen Drive and Avent Ferry Road, along with the closure of Dan Allen Drive south of Western Boulevard.

Authorities said the closures are required to park and stage vehicles and equipment related to the exercise.

Sounds resembling explosions and gunfire may be heard, which are part of the exercise scenario, officials said.

State Police Department, Raleigh Fire Department, Raleigh Police Department, Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center, Wake County Department of Emergency Medical Services and Wake County Emergency Management Department will also participate in the exercise on Sunday.
