Train hits pickup in Durham

The collision at West Main and 15th streets damaged the bed of the truck, but the driver appeared to be unhurt, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A train hit a pickup truck on the railroad tracks in Durham just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a woman was crossing the tracks at West Main and 15th streets, just north of Duke University, when an approaching train triggered the guard arms. The truck was caught between the barriers, on the tracks.

The train hit the bed of the truck. It was heavily damaged, but the woman was unhurt.
