Posted June 25, 2008

According to police, a woman was crossing the tracks at West Main and 15th streets, just north of Duke University, when an approaching train triggered the guard arms. The truck was caught between the barriers, on the tracks.

The train hit the bed of the truck. It was heavily damaged, but the woman was unhurt.

Why was the woman stopped on the tracks? The crossing arms don't just drop down, they come down slowly. When ever I'm stopped at a light, I never stop on the tracks.
