Tragedy turns into community support for school custodian
A Chatham County school hosted a fundraising event at a local McDonalds Tuesday evening to help a custodian who lost everything in a house fire.

On Tuesday, the Pittsboro community used French fries and other food to help Bailey with her recovery efforts.
Half of the sales at a local McDonalds between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. benefited Bailey and her family.
“When we got the email notifying us about what had happened, we just felt like we had to do something,” said Rex Willoughby, restaurant owner.
Bailey, the head custodian at North Chatham Elementary School, is known for going beyond her job title to help children.
“She knows the names of so many of the children here tonight because she cares,” said Dale Minge, school principal. “And she cares about children.”
Bailey was presented with a check of $2,165 dollars at the end of the night.
“It shows how important she is to the community,” Minge said.
