City of Oaks marathon shuts down Raleigh roads
Raleigh roads have been shut down as approximately 3,500 runners compete in the City of Oaks marathon Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — The City of Oaks Marathon will affect traffic in downtown Raleigh on Sunday.
Approximately 3,500 runners and walkers are expected to participant in the marathon and half-marathon.
Centennial Parkway from Avent Ferry Road to Blair Drive will be closed from 6:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Western Boulevard eastbound from Avent Ferry Road to Pullen Road will also be closed then.
Other street closures:
- Hillsborough Street from Pullen Road to Blue Ridge Road will have limited traffic north to south across race route from 7 a.m. until noon.
- Blue Ridge Road from Lake Boone Trail to Hillsborough Street northbound from 7:45 a.m. until noon. Southbound will be closed on Blue Ridge Road from Lake Boone Trail to Wade Avenue.
These downtown streets will remain open:
- Person Street
- Blount Street
- Wilmington Street from South Street to Morgan Street
