Louisburg, N.C. — Almost two dozen motorists traveling on Interstate 95 reported flat tires Thursday morning in Halifax County.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol started getting calls from stranded motorists at about 10 a.m., a spokesman said. An investigation revealed nails all over the northbound lanes between exits 160 at Louisburg and 168 at Lake Gaston.
No foul play is suspected. The nails likely fell off the back of a truck, the Highway Patrol said.
The Department of Transportation cleared the nails from the road and traffic was moving smoothly by early afternoon.
