Driver Donato Flores, 23, fell asleep at the wheel, causing the van to run off the northbound side of the road and overturn at about 7:30 a.m., troopers said.

Ten people were in the van and some were thrown from the vehicle into woods, troopers said. They suffered non-life-threatening injures.

Paramedics transported the injured to Cape Fear Valley Health System.

WRAL footage shows that van was badly damaged and its front windshield was completely busted out.

Northbound lanes were closed for a short time, backing up traffic. They were re-opened about a 1½ hour after the wreck.

Fayetteville police and state troopers responded to the wreck.

The state Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. in Fayetteville when the van, heading from Florida to New Jersey, ran off the northbound lane to the left and crossed back to the right before hitting the ditch.

Golly Gee the windshield was " completely busted out" come on WRAL...

Yes seat belts would have helped the situation but people still don't want to wear them.

Glad they're OK. Having said that, FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS!!!!!!!!!!!! People wearing seatbelts aren't "thrown from vehicles!!!"
