Six Forks Road Reopened After Wreck

A Raleigh man is charged with DWI, underage consumption of alcohol and hit and run for the accident that closed part of Six Forks Road in North Raleigh Monday morning.

Jose Guevara Erasmo, 19, of 7011 Sandy Forks Road, was traveling southbound on South Forks when he swerved across Shelley Road, hitting a utility pole and knocking out power to the intersection for about six hours.

Erasmo ran from his vehicle after the crash, but was located and arrested in a nearby parking lot.

Six Forks Road was reopened to traffic just after noon.

i think it has to do with a complete disregard for our laws that are in place to protect citizens safety.

I guess it is cool, in the Hispanic culture, to drink and drive. Otherwise, why do they do it so often??

Thank God no one was hurt or killed. THIS TIME.

Here is what I found on DWI. From Newsday.com North Carolina is trying to combat a major problem among young Hispanic men drawn to the state by plentiful jobs: drunken-driving rates two to three times as high as those of other groups. According to the University of North Carolina's Highway Safety Research Center, 7.04% of Hispanic drivers involved in crashes in the state in 2005 were suspected of driving while intoxicated. That compares with 2.82% of whites in crashes and 2.29% of African-Americans, according to Eric Rodgman, a researcher at the center

I'm sure the numbers are higher now.

Is anyone actually EVER going to publish the numbers for Hispanics causing accidents regarding DWI, driving without a license, no insurance, etc. etc.?? Sure is costing our state a load of money!!!!
