I-40 Work to Limit Eastbound Flow, Access in Raleigh

The ongoing rehabilitation project on Interstate 40 will close two eastbound lanes of of Interstate 440 Beltline between South Saunders  Street and the Person/Hammond streets exits this weekend.

The entrance ramp from Hammond Road also will be off limits.

The lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, the state Department of Transportation said.

DOT officials said drivers who need to get on I-40 east should use the Saunders Street interchange.

The construction work is part of a project to repave nearly 13 miles of damaged concrete. A completion date is scheduled for August.
