Memorial Day A Working Holiday For Some DOT Crews
Posted May 30, 2006
WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Digging and paving did not take a break for Memorial Day on the N.C. Highway 98 Bypass in Wake Forest.
Crews are working seven days a week on the road, which connects Wake Forest's Main Street with U.S. Highway 1 to meet a June 8 deadline. If contractors miss the deadline, they will be fined thousands of dollars for each day it is not finished.
Crews were allowed to work because it did not have an impact on traffic.
