FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. — An accident involving a flatbed truck caused traffic problems throughout most of the morning and early afternoon on Tuesday.
Authorities said that at about 9:15 a.m., the truck was carrying detached crane equipment for Southern Crane Co., when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into the woods alongside of U.S. Highway 1 North between Wake Forest and Franklinton.
The rear wheels then came off the truck and the crane equipment scattered along the wooded area and roadway.
State troopers at the scene closed one lane in each direction of U.S. 1 until crews cleaned up the area.
No one was seriously injured, authorities said.
