Lane Closure Set for 6 Miles of I-40 Eastbound
RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will close the right lane of eastbound Interstate 40, beginning Wednesday evening, for work on the Clayton Bypass project, but all lanes will be open during the evening commuter rush, officials said.

The lane will be blocked off from U.S. 70 (Exit 306) to N.C. 42 (Exit 312) between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday, then again from 7 p.m. Thursday to 3 p.m. Friday, an NCDOT announcement said.

The speed limit in the six-mile stretch will be reduced from 60 mph to 55 mph when the lane is closed.
