— A tractor-trailer lost its load of crushed cars on U.S. Highway 1 between Vass and Southern Pines Tuesday morning.

The wreck closed southbound lanes of the highway, and authorities restricted northbound motorists to one lane so that traffic could move in both directions on the two northbound lanes.

Police reopened the whole road about 3:15 p.m.

There was no word on the cause of the wreck.

I read here on the computer they took rating on how people drive in cities. North Carolina rated no. 2 for the worest road rage and driving. You try to get on the belt line see how many people get over. none. I had a woman flashing lights at me in traffic no place to go capital blvd at about 4:00 so you all know what that means grid lock. comming to wake forest.

TRUCKERS ARE UNDER MORE PRESSURE THAN ANYONE ON THE HIGHWAY OTHER THAN MOTORCYCLIST SO BEFORE WE SLING MUD AT THEM TRY HANGING UP THE CELL PHONE AND OPENING YOUR EYES. CARS DO CAUSE MOST OF THE ACCIDENTS BUT THEY ARE NEVER FOUND TO BE AT FAULT

I think I have missed something in the story. It stated that the trucker lost the load. Meaning that the load was not secured properly. It didn't see anything in the story about how the driver was driving either safely or unsafely.

    PRAYING FOR THOSE POOR CARS

I was in the construction zone near 42 on I40 Monday. I was in the left lane running 60 mph and a small truck was in the right lane a little ahead of me running about the same speed or a little faster. Before you tell me to get out of the left lane, I was in a section of highway where the sign says not to change lanes and there were other cars around also. The problem was a semi in the right lane that evidently was immune to the construction zone speed limit. He was less than a car length from the small truck when he changed lanes between us. I had backed off some when I saw him give his signal, but he could have cared less whether he hit either of us or not. He then ran much faster than the construction zone speed limit while workers were in the zone. I know the majority of truck drivers are very good and safe, but stop trying to act like they are the only ones who know how to drive and that all car drivers are idiots. This just shows your ignorance.

Right on 68. I have seen things like that many times. My husband is a truck driver and puts uop with crap like that all the time. One time someone came off the exit ramp and rode the shoulder just to get in front of him. Now, you do have a few truckers that are bad just as you do cops, firemen, ems, bank tellers, teachers, priest, pastors, reverands (and any other name you want to call them)noone is perfect. Everyone needs to drive better and be more aware of each other. And use your turn signal to turn there is no point in putting it on in mid turn.
