— Crews from the state Department of Transportation will shut down a lane of Interstate 40 in Orange County for the next two days.

DOT officials said the lane closures will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday to install electronic traffic monitoring sensors in the pavement.

Officials said the work will take place between mile markers 268 and 271 with traffic restricted to one lane in each direction.

ltbarkley - How else do you expect the road construction racket to justify outrageous prices?

  • ltbarkley Mar 28, 2007

No kidding Top Dog - only emergency road work should be done in the day. Im glad to see something minor like this is being done at night.

The only problem is the cost - it costs MUCH more to do work at night - cost of the lighting, higher pay for the workers, etc.

Surprising huh? I am surprised they didn't wait to Easter weekend to do this.
