RALEIGH, N.C. — The countdown is on in eastern Wake County. The highly anticipated Highway 64 bypass opens Friday.
The 11-mile road parallels Highway 64 from the Beltline to Wendell.
Thousands of people have complained about being stuck in rush-hour traffic delays every workday, so officials hope the new bypass will help.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 9 a.m.
