DOT Crews Digging Up One Road To Make Way For Another

Posted Updated

DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation is digging up one road to make way for another, and some commuters are not happy about it.

Three years ago, crews built the Slater Road connector, which allowed Interstate 540 drivers to enter Research Triangle Park without merging onto busy Interstate 40.

Now, the connector is in the way of the extension of I-540 to Highway 55.

The new leg of Interstate 540 will not be ready until August 2007.
