Dispatchers Want Callers To Provide More Info When Reporting Accidents

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Emergency 911 dispatchers need your help. They said people calling in car crashes on the Beltline often do not know where they are, which can be bad for accident victims.

Dispatchers often receive several calls about the same accident, but each caller gives a completely different location. That confusion led to long delays as authorities tried to respond to several car accidents this past weekend.

Dispatchers say knowing the nearest mile marker can really help them.

If you don't know that, be aware of the surrounding landmarks and always know the make, model and color of the cars involved.
